PARTICIPATORY SCIENCE
Citizen science will first of all present a pedagogical and educational interest for contributors. They are also a way to act for the planet, concrete and easy!
But citizen science is a major asset for scientists and managers. The data collected is proving increasingly relevant and useful. They lead to decisive research for the consideration of global changes (eg climate) by politicians and managers. Studies conducted on existing programs show that studies based on participatory data have a much faster concrete impact on local and regional policies than studies based on data collected solely by researchers.
Citizen science is thus a tool from which contributors and scientists derive mutual benefit.
We have all had, at one time or another, the opportunity to observe nature and its diversity, with wonder or wonder.
Observing for one’s pleasure is good… but observing and allowing the scientific community to benefit from one’s observations is better!
This is participatory science: scientific programs to which we can all, specialists or amateurs, contribute by collecting observations, on a voluntary basis.
